Exotic Pet Medicine & Surgery

Because not all pets have paws—and we love them just as much.

At our hospital, we know that exotic pets are more than just unusual—they’re beloved family members with unique needs. From fluffy rabbits to slithery snakes, our team has the experience, knowledge, and heart to care for a wide variety of exotic animals.

Whether your pet needs a routine exam, nutritional advice, or a surgical procedure, we’ve got you covered—with compassion and expertise.

Rabbits

Rabbits might be cute and quiet, but they’re also masters at hiding signs of illness. That’s why regular checkups are key!
We commonly treat issues like:

  • Overgrown teeth
  • Hairballs
  • Parasites
  • Digestive issues
  • Respiratory infections
  • Cancer

Let us know if your bunny stops eating, drools, sneezes, tilts their head, or just seems “off.” And don’t forget dental care—those little teeth grow fast!

» Bonus Tip: Spaying or neutering your rabbit isn’t just about preventing litters—it helps protect against certain cancers and reduces aggressive or destructive behavior.

We’re also happy to chat about housing, diet, grooming, and even litter training!

Ferrets

Playful, mischievous, and endlessly curious—ferrets are fun companions but can get into trouble quickly. That’s why we recommend yearly exams and regular parasite screenings.

Ferrets are prone to:

  • Gastrointestinal issues
  • Hormonal diseases
  • Parasites
  • Cancer

They’re also famous for swallowing things they shouldn’t—so if your ferret’s acting off, don’t wait!

» Spaying or neutering is especially important for female ferrets (jills), who can suffer serious health issues if left unspayed.
» Male ferrets (hobs) benefit too—neutering can help with strong odors and reduce unwanted behavior.

Bring a stool sample to your ferret’s checkup so we can check for internal parasites!

Snakes

Silent and sleek, snakes require very specific care to thrive—and we’re here to help ensure your scaled friend stays healthy.

Common concerns include:

  • Respiratory infections
  • Digestive and liver issues
  • Internal/external parasites (like mites, ticks, roundworms)

Even healthy snakes benefit from routine checkups. A quick exam can help us catch problems early—and give you peace of mind.

We’re happy to guide you on:

  • Proper enclosures, heat, humidity, and lighting
  • Feeding schedules and stress management
  • Safe handling and sex identification

Call us if your snake stops eating, wheezes, regurgitates, has unusual skin changes, or just isn’t acting right.

Lizards, Turtles and tortoises

These are fascinating creatures, but without proper care, they’re at high risk for nutrition-related illnesses, bone disease, and infections.

We offer:

  • Initial wellness exams for new lizards, turtles and tortoises
  • Nutritional consultations
  • Advice on enclosures, lighting, humidity, and hygiene

Let us help you create the perfect environment so your reptile can thrive.

 Gerbils, Guinea Pigs & Hamsters

Small but mighty—these little critters need regular care too!

Common concerns include:

  • Overgrown teeth (they grow constantly!)
  • Parasites like lice, mites, and fleas
  • Respiratory infections
  • Lumps, weight loss, or lethargy

We offer affordable, compassionate care for all your small pets—and yes, we know the best chew toys to help with those teeth!

Mice, Rats, Hedgehogs & Other Exotics

Have a unique pet not listed here? No problem! We also treat:

  • Rats & mice
  • Hedgehogs
  • And more!

From wellness exams and surgeries to advice on nutrition and husbandry, we’ve got the knowledge and tools to support even the most unconventional companions.
